How to Get to Kuta Lombok (and The Spot)
Getting to Kuta Lombok is straightforward once you know your options. Here's how to get here from Bali, from the airport, and from other parts of Lombok.
Getting to Kuta Lombok is easier than most people expect. Whether you're flying in, coming over from Bali, or arriving from elsewhere on the island, there's a reliable option for every situation. Here's what you need to know.
Flying into Lombok International Airport (LOP)
The quickest way to reach Kuta is by flying directly into Lombok International Airport (airport code: LOP). The airport receives daily domestic flights from Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and other major Indonesian cities, as well as some international routes.
From the airport to Kuta Lombok takes roughly 40 to 50 minutes by car. The road is straightforward — head south through Praya and continue to Kuta.
**Getting from the airport to Kuta:**
- **Grab or Gojek**: The easiest option if you have an Indonesian SIM card. Expect to pay around Rp 120,000–150,000 to Kuta.
- **Official airport taxi**: Available at the taxi desk in the arrivals hall. Slightly more expensive but reliable — around Rp 150,000–180,000.
- **Pre-arranged driver**: If you're staying with us at The Spot, we can arrange airport pickup in advance. Contact us at [email protected].
Once you're in Kuta, The Spot is located in central Kuta — walkable from most accommodation in town.
Coming from Bali by Fast Boat
Fast boats run daily between Bali and Lombok, typically departing from Sanur, Serangan, or Padang Bai. Most arrive at Bangsal port (north Lombok) or Senggigi (west Lombok).
- **Boat travel time**: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the departure point and conditions
- **From Senggigi to Kuta Lombok**: About 1.5 hours by car, heading south through Mataram and past the airport
- **From Bangsal to Kuta Lombok**: Similar drive time, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours
From either port, you can take a Grab if available, arrange a private driver, or book transport through your accommodation in advance. Expect to pay Rp 300,000–500,000 for a private driver from Senggigi or Bangsal to Kuta.
Coming from Bali by Slow Ferry
The Padang Bai–Lembar ferry runs roughly every hour and takes about 5 hours. Lembar is on the southwest coast of Lombok, about 1 hour from Kuta by car. This option is mainly practical if you're bringing a motorbike or car.
- **Ferry prices**: Around Rp 46,000 per person, Rp 250,000 for a motorbike under 500cc
- **From Lembar to Kuta**: About 1 hour, heading east and south through Sekotong and Penujak
Coming from Senggigi or Mataram
If you're already in the northern or central part of Lombok, Kuta is about 1.5 hours south of Senggigi or Mataram. The main road takes you through Praya — follow signs toward the airport, then continue south to Kuta.
The drive is easy and the roads are in reasonable condition throughout. You can take a Grab, hire a driver for the day, or rent a scooter and make the trip yourself.
Getting Around Kuta
Once you're in Kuta, a scooter is the most practical way to explore the surrounding area. Rental rates in Kuta run Rp 60,000–80,000 per day for a standard automatic scooter. Several rental shops are within walking distance of central Kuta.
The Spot is in central Kuta, so most beaches, warung, and points of interest are accessible on foot or with a short ride.
