Working From The Spot: What to Expect and How It Works

Whether you're on a day pass or a long-term membership, here's what working at The Spot in Kuta Lombok actually looks like — and a few things worth knowing before you arrive.

We've been hosting remote workers at The Spot since 2019. Most people know what they need: fast internet, somewhere comfortable to sit, and food that doesn't require leaving the building. We've got all of that.

There are a few things worth knowing before you arrive, especially if you're planning to work from the café rather than the coworking space, or if you're on a longer stay.

The Coworking Space vs. The Café

The Spot has two distinct zones.

The coworking area is purpose-built for work: fast dedicated Wi-Fi, quiet focus room, power sockets at every seat, ergonomic chairs. This is where you go if you're on a call, need silence, or have a serious workload. Day passes cover this area.

The café is an all-day restaurant with free Wi-Fi — Belgian and Indonesian food, proper coffee, open seating. You can work here over a coffee or a meal without needing a coworking pass. We do ask for a minimum order of something from the menu if you're going to sit for a while — which is reasonable.

If you're here for a full work day, the coworking pass is the right call. The day pass includes the coworking area, the focus room, fast dedicated internet, and a full day's access. The café Wi-Fi is fine for light use; it's not engineered for twelve simultaneous video calls.

A Few Things That Make the Space Work

The focus room is for focus. Keep calls to normal voice levels or use headphones. The café area is more forgiving on noise.

Early mornings are popular. The Spot opens at 8am, and a lot of the regulars arrive straight from a surf session. If you want the best seat, earlier is better.

Evening work is possible. We're open until 21:00. The space quietens down after around 17:00, which makes the late afternoon and evening a good time for deep work if you've been out during the day.

Members have 24/7 access. If you're on a weekly or monthly membership and want to work outside of opening hours — early morning before the café opens, or late evening — that's what the member access is for.

The Community

The typical crowd at The Spot is freelancers, remote employees, and founders on long-term stays. Not a tourist crowd that changes every few days — mostly people who've been here for weeks or months and have settled into a Kuta routine.

The result is a low-key but sociable space. People tend to know each other, help with recommendations, and occasionally end up collaborating. Nobody's going to sell you on a networking event, but conversations happen naturally.

Getting Set Up

No booking needed for day passes — walk in any day between 08:00 and 21:00. Tell us at the door what pass you want and we'll get you set up.

For weekly or monthly memberships, it helps to ask a day or two in advance to confirm a spot, though we usually have availability. See the full coworking page or just ask when you arrive.
